Meet the Team

We are incredibly fortunate to have a wonderful team of volunteers who support us whenever they are able, giving their time, skills, and compassion to help families when it matters most. Alongside them, we have a dedicated core team whose familiar faces you’ll often see at our events and activities.

Meet the people who make Edison’s Light shine.

ABOUT EDISON'S LIGHT

Our Story

Edison’s Light was born from the love we have for our beautiful son, Edison.
On 26th September 2022, at just 27 weeks, we welcomed him into the world, tiny, brave, and perfect in every way. He arrived pre-term and with a condition called Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia. For nearly twenty-four precious hours, Edison fought with extraordinary strength, supported by an incredible neonatal team at QMC. Despite every effort, our little boy passed away peacefully in our arms.

Losing Edison is the most heart-breaking experience we have ever lived through. A close second was finding the words to tell his older brother, Conner, that his baby brother would never be coming home. Conner had been excitedly waiting to meet Edison, already imagining the games they would play, the memories they would make, and the bond they would share. In an instant, we had to guide him through a kind of loss no child should ever have to face.

As we navigated our own grief, we were also trying to support Conner through his. We soon discovered that while hospitals offer support for parents, there was very little aimed at siblings, those young hearts who also feel the impact of pregnancy and baby loss but are often overlooked. Like many grieving families, we found ourselves online, searching for tools to help a child understand something that even adults struggle to comprehend.

This gap, this silence where support should have been, is what sparked Edison’s Light.

We wanted to turn our pain into purpose.
We wanted to honour our son by helping others.
And we wanted no family to feel as lost as we did in those early days.

From this, we created sibling support packs for families facing miscarriage, termination for medical reasons (TFMR), stillbirth, and neonatal loss. These packs, now provided directly to hospitals, offer gentle, age-appropriate resources to help children understand and express their grief. Each pack includes a cuddly bear, supportive materials for families, and a selection of books tailored to different circumstances, allowing parents to choose what best suits their child’s needs.

While we wish no family ever needed one of our packs, we hope that in the moments when they do, they feel a small measure of comfort and understanding.

As Edison’s Light has grown, so has our vision.

We now offer hand and footprint memory bears to families across the local area, tender keepsakes that cherish the brief but immeasurable lives of their babies. We also provide peer support groups and workshops, creating safe spaces for families to share, learn, and heal together.

Edison’s life was short, but his impact continues to grow.
Through every pack delivered, every memory bear created, and every family supported, his light shines on, guiding us, inspiring us, and reminding us of the love that endures even through the darkest grief.

This is Edison’s legacy.
This is Edison’s Light.

This is for all babies we hold in our hearts.
